  1. Bioinformatics center

        The professors of the Bioinformatics Center hail primarily from the Institute of Bioinformatics and Structural Biology. The center was established in August of 2001, mainly focusing on the research of bioinformatics related areas, constructing a server related to biological information, and building a virtual environment that integrates related sources, information, applications and lessons. The Bioinformatics Center provides Taiwan biobank link services, as well as database inquiry services such as GPDB (Genome Profile DataBase), SCOP (Structural Classification of Proteins), and PDB (Protein Data Bank).
     
  2. Structural Proteomics Center
        With the rapid development of medical research, the Structural Proteomics Center was established in August of 2009 in order to improve the College’s research capabilities and to enhance its competitive ability. The mission of the center is to coordinate internal and external research resources, to integrate internal research resources, to establish, handle and maintain technology platforms, to develop and promote new research techniques and methods, to support research projects, to coordinate and assess the purchase of cutting-edge technology, to supervise and improve the efficiency of such technologies, and to establish an e-platform for research resources, with the aim of supporting various research projects and supervising cutting-edge technology.
        The Center has set an implementation strategy whose primary aim is to further elevate the university as one of the top worldwide research institutions.  The initial goal of this strategy is to establish and consolidate the resources of each of the College’s laboratories, followed by integration of basic medical resources and plans, all while nurturing and training outstanding scientific researchers. The strategy consists of two main parts: (1) a comprehensive X-ray facility with high efficiency, to select crystals of apoproteins and its complex form, which includes the inhibitor, and (2) a Structural Proteomics Center, which provides for structural analysis, protein modeling and drug design.
        The Structural Proteomics Center has two research laboratories: (a) a Nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) laboratory, and (b) a X-ray Crystallography and diffraction of biological macromolecules (X-ray) laboratory.
     
  3. Center for Teaching and Learning Development
        The Center for Teaching and Learning Development is responsible for producing electronic and multimedia teaching materials. It was established in January of 2000 and is operated by the curriculum committee of the College.  The Center compiles all lectures, including lecture notes and live lessons, through computer-assisted multimedia hardware and software, then uploads them into the e-Learning space so that students have unlimited access to shared e-Learning information and can control their own study pace, thus improving the effectiveness of learning.
       The center currently employs two staff members, whose chief responsibilities include the manufacturing of electronic teaching materials, assisting in seminars carried out by each of the departments, and producing posters from each department in order to facilitate the publication of student research.
     
  4. Brain Research Center
        The Brain Research Center (BRC) at National Tsing Hua University was inaugurated in 2004 by the Founding Director, Academician Ann-Shyn Chiang. The BRC’s mission is to understand how the brain functions to yield memory and other complex behaviors. New technologies have been developed to discover first in fruit flies the neural circuits underlying these complex behaviors and genes and biochemistries that function within the different neurons of the circuit. Supported by the Higher Education Sprout Project, a join fund from the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Science and Technology, BRC works closely with more than 40 interdisciplinary and international laboratories to advance its mission objectives.
